Hmmm two things to add here today, one : a new bar, looks wicked, think i might be a regular in the near future. two : the american system of tipping in australia.

Well to start of in the nicest way possible, i was at work last night and for the first time in about a month or two i got a break, it was quite people more interested in watching sport than participating i guess... but anywho... Yeah on my break i decided to check out this new bar down the road. Called the Order of Melbourne, (so far no website i can find) ... but hey really wicked interia, amazing bar, looks like i might be appling for a job there in the near future. for all those interested check it out 401 swanston st. melbourne next to bunker (up the stairs) think its open from 3pm onwards....

ok now the the second topic of the blog. This has to do with the american torrists and the writers of a lil travel publication 'lonely planet'. Two nice people (americans) come into the bar here is how the events play out...
me (m): 'hey there'
them (t): 'hi, um do you have campari?'
m: 'of cause we do'
t: 'ok, do you have grapefruit juice'
m: 'that we also have, would you like a campari and grapefruit?'
t: 'that would be great'
m: 'fresh lime?'
t: 'yes please'
(i turn the the next one)
t: 'a vodka martini with a twist'
m: 'certainly' .....
so on so forth you get the message, i was nice, i was kind, i was hospitable, i make the drink they pay ($22, i good price) and low and behold...
NO TIP
order the next round .. same thing..
NO TIP
they leave i recommend somewhere for them to eat .. at 2am ..
NO TIP
So here is a message / rant to the people on the lonely planet, please do not say 'australians dont expect tips' in any future publications, this is only true in your country yokel pubs and resturant where all dishes come with a side of chips.
Put simply you order a martini ... you tip, you like your drink you tip
people really do tip here in australia .. its true .. i know because i work in hospitality and take pride in my work ...
hmmm well im glad thats over .. now i can go backt work.
